Excelcia Music Publishing has released Two Chord Jams, a jazz improvisation resource by composer and educator Peter Sciaino.

The book includes 12 original tunes designed for beginning improvisers in small-group and large-ensemble settings. The materials include melodies, background figures for solo sections, suggested scales, rhythm-section parts and free downloadable backing tracks.

According to the company, the book is designed to help students focus on groove, listening and musical expression while learning to read lead sheets and improvise.

Two Chord Jams can be used as a jazz ensemble warm-up, a performance resource or an individual practice tool for improvisation, comping and bass-line work. Part books are available for flute, alto/bari saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet/clarinet/baritone T.C., trombone/euphonium and rhythm section.

The conductor’s score lists for $24.99, with part books listed at $9.99. The title is available from music retailers and from Excelcia Music Publishing.
