Audeze and Audiokinetic have announced native head-tracking support for the Maxwell 2 ANC headset in Wwise. The integration is intended for game audio and location-based entertainment creators working with spatial audio.
Developers can connect the headset by USB-Cor its wireless USB-Cdongle to monitor directly in Wwise without external software. The headset provides real-time, self-calibrating head tracking for positioning, auditioning and mixing sound. Applications described in the announcement include virtual reality emulation, Tempest 3D AudioTech binauralization and nonstandard speaker layouts using the AK Custom Panner.
The Maxwell 2 ANC uses 90 mm planar magnetic drivers with Uniforce, Fluxor, Fazor and SLAM acoustic technologies. Its active noise cancellation is designed to maintain a consistent frequency response. Audeze and Audiokinetic are both Sony Interactive Entertainment companies.
The companies said the collaboration connects Wwise audio authoring with monitoring through Audeze headsets. Sankar Thiagasamudram, Audeze’s CEO, said the integration is intended to reduce the steps between sound design and spatial monitoring. Martin Dufour, Audiokinetic’s chief technology officer, said it is intended to help developers implement spatial audio in interactive projects.
