The historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago has recently completed an upgrade to its audio infrastructure, according to ProSoundWeb. This project involved the implementation of loudspeakers from Alcons Audio, a move intended to enhance the listening experience within the cherished venue.
Installation services were provided by Kinora, who integrated the new system into the theatre's existing framework. The Music Box Theatre, which first opened its doors in 1929, presented unique acoustic considerations that the updated system needed to resolve. ProSoundWeb reports that the upgrade incorporates RA24N/90bi and CRA24W/120bi loudspeakers, alongside QR24 line source columns and CB362 subwoofers.
The new loudspeakers were finished in a custom color to blend seamlessly with the theatre's aesthetic. The updated sound system is designed to overcome the inherent acoustic difficulties present in a building of this age and design.
This upgrade aims to improve the clarity and quality of audio for screenings and other events held at the Music Box Theatre.
