Dayton Audio, a division of Parts Express, has emerged as a significant original equipment manufacturer within the loudspeaker sector. The company's offerings include a wide array of transducer product lines, alongside test equipment, amplifiers, and digital signal processing units.
This month, audioXpress received the Apollo 8MB200N-8 midbass woofer from Dayton Audio’s professional sound Odeum product line for evaluation. The driver features a curvilinear paper cone with a rigid black coating, alongside a 2-inch voice coil and a neodymium ring magnet. A copper shorting ring is also incorporated to minimize distortion.
The design includes a six-spoke frame, with a closed area beneath the spider mounting platform. Airflow for cooling is channeled through a pole vent and six vents located around the periphery.
Initial inspection revealed a comprehensive set of design elements for this new loudspeaker driver.
