PLSN reported that French artist and music producer Michael Canitrot became the first DJ to perform on the Statue of Liberty, presenting a show titled Liberty Lights. The event marked a dual celebration of the United States’ 250th independence anniversary and the 140th anniversary of the statue’s gift from France.
The performance was a collaboration between Canitrot and High Scream’s show director Romain Pissenem, and it was produced by Monumental Tour and Auditoire in partnership with the French consulate general in New York, according to the same source.
Lighting for the show was designed and directed by Ian Tomlinson of High Scream, with technical support from PRG. Laser mapping was created by Jérémie Bellot and François Deret, while the cinematic capture was coordinated by OS Studios and directed by Remco Evers, PLSN noted.
The Liberty Lights production drew on Canitrot’s Monumental touring concept, blending light, laser and music to honor both historic milestones, as described in the PLSN article dated August 9, 2026.
