Guitar manufacturer Fender has expanded the color options for its American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass, now including a Lake Placid Blue finish. According to No Treble, this addition joins the existing Sea Foam Green, 3-Color Sunburst, and Olympic White colorways.
The hue, initially adopted by Fender from General Motors’ automotive paint catalog in late 1959, was later formalized in the company’s first custom-color chart in 1960. The introduction of Lake Placid Blue does not affect any other features of the instrument.
The American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass maintains its original specifications, including a nitrocellulose finish, a neck profile reminiscent of the era, and year-specific pickups of high quality. The instrument features a maple neck, a bound rosewood fretboard, and a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
While the bass is available in both right- and left-handed versions, the Lake Placid Blue finish is currently only offered for right-handed players.
