Altitude, a new software synthesizer blending subtractive, sampling and FM synthesis engines, is now available as a free download for Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems. According to a report from Synthtopia, the developer designed the instrument to produce booming basses, provocative pads, effervescent effects and sonorous sequences.
The software features eight generators comprising four oscillators and four sample layers, alongside two filters offering 15 algorithms. Synthtopia notes the inclusion of eight effect unit slots with 17 effect types and dual 24-step sequencers. The platform supports high-precision modulation through five envelopes, two step modulators, four math modulators, four LFOs and a 21-slot modulation matrix with over 500 available destinations.
Further details from Synthtopia indicate the user interface includes custom skinning support and scaling options ranging from 100% to 300%. The release delivers highly tuned performance with native support for Apple Silicon M1 processors and includes over 300 builtin patches in the factory ROM. The report confirms the software contains no copy protection or digital rights management.
