Groove Synthesis has launched a complimentary update, version 2.0a, for its 3rd Wave synthesizer. According to Synthtopia, the update introduces new capabilities for wave creation and a fresh reverb effect.
The new Shimmer Verb effect, situated in effect slot 2, allows for pitch shifting in fractional semitones across a two-octave range. This feature provides users with greater flexibility compared to traditional octave or semitone adjustments. Andrew Silverman, co-founder of Groove Synthesis, noted the synthesizer’s significant advancement since its initial release.
Bob Coover, co-founder and DSP engineer at Groove Synthesis, expressed surprise at the effect's ability to enhance even basic sounds. The reverb’s tone can be altered through the Filter Cutoff parameter, shifting between dark and bright characteristics. Furthermore, the Rev Time, Pitch Amount, and LP/HP Cutoff parameters are now accessible within the modulation matrix.
