Illformed announced that its Glitch 2 audio effect is now offered as a free download for Linux, macOS and Windows, dedicating the release to the memory of developer Kieran Foster, synthtopia reported.
The plugin, which Foster once called the “infamous FSU plugin,” can be configured to operate gently or aggressively, with capabilities ranging from occasional audio retriggering to chaotic sound mangling.
Glitch 2 includes a sequencer that supports 128 scenes, each with its own pattern, timing and effect settings, and a multi‑lane layout that lets multiple effects run simultaneously, according to the source. The sequencer also features improved timing controls and an intuitive drag‑and‑drop pattern editor that allows users to draw, erase, resize, split and join blocks.
Effect modules in the plugin can slice, dice, chop, screw, twist and otherwise transform audio, with tempo‑synced options that lock to musical divisions such as 16th notes and 8th‑note triplets. Each module offers filter, mix, pan and volume controls, and randomize and mutate functions are available at nearly every level. The free download is now available, synthtopia said.
