The Ministerio Internacional Monte de Dios in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has opened its new campus featuring a sound reinforcement system designed by Wholestage and centered on L-Acoustics components. ProSoundWeb reports that the installation serves the largest Christian church in the Caribbean, accommodating nearly 8,000 worshipers in a semicircular auditorium with a central stage.
Church leadership established a rigorous benchmark requiring no more than 3 dB of level variation between any two seats to ensure even coverage across the 180-degree audience arc. Jonathan Del Villar, CTO of Wholestage, told ProSoundWeb that speech intelligibility was the primary goal, though the system also needed to convey the dynamic energy of the live band and provide palpable low-end impact.
Wholestage modeled the design using Soundvision software with support from L-Acoustics application leads. The final configuration includes 48 K2 line array elements flown in four arrays, paired with 16 KS28 subwoofers arranged in a combined end-fire and cardioid setup to prevent low-frequency cancellations. Additional coverage is provided by X8 front fills, A15i side fills, and X12 delay speakers. The system is driven by LA7.16i and LA12X amplified controllers, while three DiGiCo Quantum3 consoles handle mixing duties. Del Villar confirmed to ProSoundWeb that calibration verified the 3 dB consistency target throughout the venue, successfully delivering the high-fidelity experience sought by the ministry.
