Lighting designer Vinny Shaw employed a ChamSys MagicQ MQ250M Stadium console during the recent Fit For An Autopsy tour, which served as a supporting act for Lamb of God. The extensive tour encompassed 27 cities across North America, presenting a unique challenge for the lighting design. According to ChamSys, Shaw had to adjust his approach to accommodate the differing equipment available at each venue.
To manage the shifting setups, Shaw found ChamSys console capabilities to be valuable. Features like patch clone and morphing, along with Group Based Cues, helped him quickly adapt his lighting design to the varying house rigs. The designer also incorporated open white spots and blinders to generate impactful visual moments during performances.
Shaw’s decision to utilize the MagicQ console was also influenced by its relatively small footprint. The console’s compact dimensions proved useful when navigating the logistical constraints of a touring environment. The MagicQ console allowed for flexibility and efficiency on the road.
