PRS Guitars Europe has unveiled a new ‘exclusive to Europe’ model from the company’s Wood Library programme, the Fatback 24.
Based on the firm’s 30th Anniversary Custom 24, the new guitar features a thicker ‘McCarty depth’ body and hand-selected, up-graded timbers. A limited run of only 60 Fatback 24s will be produced.
To counter-balance the extra depth of the body, the mnufacturer has used lightweight Ribbon Stripe African Mahogany, with a wide curl flame maple ‘10-top’.
It also features 30th Anniversary mother of pearl birds inlays, unusual ivoroid fingerboard purfling and a choice of six colours: Charcoal Burst, Dark Cherry Sunburst, Fire Red Burst, Faded Whale Blue, Black Gold and Orange Tiger.
The neck is Pattern Thin carved mahogany (with Gabon Ebony fingerboard and headstock veneer) and PRS’s new 85/15 treble and bass humbuckers harnessed to volume, tone (with push-pull coil-tap) and three-way toggle switch. A PRS tremolo system rounds out the spec and it ships in a similarly limited Black Paisley PRS case.
The Fatback 24 carries a recommended retail price of £3,750/ €5,400 inc VAT.
