The synth engine operates similarly to Karplus-Strong synthesis, utilizing BBDs—analog bucket-brigade devices—to generate sound. This configuration allows for an exciter section that feeds directly into a 1024-stage BBD resonator, creating a distinct tonal character.
The VCO in the Echon 6 supports continuously variable waveshapes and accepts external input signals, offering flexibility in sound design. Modulation capabilities are extensive, featuring four LFOs, mod wheel, velocity, key follow, and polyphonic aftertouch. The instrument also includes a unison mode with comprehensive control options and is up to six times multitimbral, allowing for layered sounds and complex arrangements.
