Music & Arts has partnered with the non-profit Keep Music Alive to offer a series of free, weekend music events across the U.S., in celebration of the sixth annual international Teach Music Week, March 16 – 22, 2020.

Megan Waybright, national retail marketing manager at Music & Arts, noted, “Our core mission is to promote and support the merits of music education and the joy of music lessons, so it seems like a natural fit to partner with Keep Music Alive and their opportunity for new musicians to get involved through Teach Music Week.”

International Teach Music Week invites musicians and music-related schools, stores and organizations to offer a free lesson or class to new students (both kids and adults). This year, nearly 1,000 locations in over a dozen countries will participate.

As part of the celebration, Music & Arts will offer special Open House events at its locations that offer lessons across the U.S. the weekend of March 20 – 23.

On, Friday, March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m., Music & Arts will offer a complimentary Open Mic night. Musicians and fans alike can join in the fun by performing as a soloist or band, or by watching local favorites. Find participating locations here.

On Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Music & Arts will offer complimentary beginner guitar classes that will guide new players through the first steps of learning guitar. Guests can borrow a guitar from the store at no charge for the class.

All weekend, visitors can meet Music & Arts’ university-trained, background-checked instructors. Those who enroll in a month of any type of musical instrument lessons will receive a Bose Bluetooth speaker.

Vincent James, co-founder of Keep Music Alive states, “We all know that the biggest hurdle to doing something is often just getting started. With Teach Music Week, we are hoping to inspire a multitude of new musicians who will continue reaping the educational, therapeutic and social benefits of playing music; long after the month of March is over.”
