Origin Effects has expanded its lineup with the EQ Deluxe Studio Equaliser and Drive, a new pedal designed to replicate the sonic characteristics of the legendary 1950s Pultec EQP-1a. According to Music Instrument News, this release aims to bring the famous low-frequency transformation known as the “Pultec trick” to a compact format optimized for guitarists and bass players.

John Dines, product manager at Origin Effects, told Music Instrument News that the unit delivers the hefty studio tone heard on hit records while capturing the saturation and warmth of the original classic. The publication reports that the pedal features a retro control set with frequencies selected specifically for stringed instruments, though its high headroom circuitry allows compatibility with studio gear as well.

Music Instrument News notes that the unit is manufactured in the United Kingdom using a brushed stainless-steel enclosure and premium components. The outlet states the pedal is currently available globally through authorized dealers or directly from the manufacturer. Pricing is listed at 449 U.S. dollars excluding tax, alongside equivalent rates in British pounds and euros.
