Pittsburgh Modular has announced the release of the Lifeforms SV-2, a complete analog synthesizer keyboard designed for both studio and stage use. According to Synthtopia, the instrument provides a self-contained system with a pre-set signal flow, although users can still modify it through patching.
Synthtopia reports that the Lifeforms SV-2 incorporates two oscillators utilizing a triangle wave design, alongside dual state-variable filters, a key component of the synthesizer's sound. The synthesizer’s design permits monophonic, paraphonic, and duophonic playing styles. The reporting indicates that the device is priced at $1,499.99 USD.
The new synthesizer has a 37-key keyboard, complete with pitch and modulation wheels, and incorporates an 84-point patch bay for flexible routing. An expansion bay for Eurorack modules, accommodating 24hp, is also integrated. The Lifeforms SV-2 also includes a spring reverb with equalization, two analog ADSR envelope generators, and a sophisticated arpeggiator with randomized functions.
Users will also find multiple stages for saturation and overdrive, alongside a digital modulation tool with low-frequency oscillator (LFO) control. The instrument’s design provides a variety of sound-shaping possibilities.
