With over three decades of shaping drumming styles and an illustrious career performing alongside legendary artists such as Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Jackson Jr., Fred Dinkins is a distinguished Grammy-nominated musician, producer, educator, author, and clinician who brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the Tamburo brand.
Fred Dinkins’ influence extends globally, having toured from Mexico to Japan and appeared on esteemed platforms like ABC’s Good Morning America and HBO’s Sinbad’s Funkfest. As a teacher at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California for over 32 years, Dinkins has mentored a diverse array of drummers, including notable talents like Anderson Paak, David Myers, Bennie Rodgers lll, Greg Garman, Fabian Egger, Walter Williams, Logan Sheppard, Tony (Rico) Nicoles, Kendall Lewis, Seamus Neal, Manny Dominic, Eva Friedman, Ryan Finney; and more.
In addition to his remarkable teaching career, Fred Dinkins is the author of the best-selling drum book It’s About Time, published by Alfred Music, and has released his debut album Favor. His dedication to inspiring musicians to reach their highest potential has earned him Musician’s Institute’s prestigious Teacher of the Year award for the past three consecutive years.
