Rosetti Ltd., one of the United Kingdom’s longest-established musical instrument distributors, is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

The company traces its history to 1929, when Jack Rosetti opened an accordion workshop in London. Rosetti was incorporated in 1936 and grew from a family business into a distributor of instruments and accessories serving generations of musicians and retailers.

Rosetti’s early years coincided with the popularity of the accordion in British music. The company later expanded into guitars and other instruments as musical tastes changed. During the 1960s and 1970s, Rosetti instruments and distributed brands became associated with artists including George Harrison and Paul McCartney.

The company developed long-term distribution relationships with manufacturers including Rickenbacker and Hagstrom. Those partnerships helped establish Rosetti in the guitar market and connected the distributor with instruments used by prominent British and international musicians.

Rosetti continued to expand its portfolio through the 1980s and 1990s, adding brands and product categories while supporting independent music retailers. Its distribution work has included guitars, orchestral instruments, percussion products and accessories.

The company remains family owned and operates from Great Leighs in Essex. Its current portfolio includes established international brands as well as products intended for students and developing musicians.

Rosetti said its anniversary program will recognize employees, retail partners, manufacturers and musicians who contributed to the company’s development. The company is also highlighting archival materials and milestones from its nine decades in the music products business.

“Reaching 90 years is an extraordinary milestone and one we’re immensely proud of,” the company said. “Our success has always been built on relationships—with our staff, our customers, our suppliers and the musicians who use the products we distribute. We look forward to continuing to support the next generation of music makers.”
