Sadowsky has announced the launch of its new MetroExpress Modern Fretless bass series, a product line designed to expand the manufacturer’s offerings in the musical instruments market. According to a report by No Treble, the new instruments feature a roasted flame maple fingerboard treated with a hard poly coating to deliver enhanced clarity, sustain, and overtones.
The basses utilize an okoume body available in Tobacco Sunburst Transparent and Solid Black High Polish finishes. No Treble states the series will ship in four-, five-, and six-string configurations, all equipped with roasted maple necks. While the fingerboards lack traditional fretlines or markers, side dots are included on the neck to assist players with navigation.
Regarding electronics, the source indicates the instruments are fitted with dual Sadowsky Soapbar pickups and active two-way circuitry. Control layouts include volume, balance, treble, and a bass knob with a push/pull function for switching between active and passive modes. Additional hardware features cited by No Treble include a Quick String Release bridge, a height-adjustable Just-A-Nut III, lightweight open-gear tuners, and a quick-access electronics compartment.
Shipping for the MetroExpress Modern Fretless series is scheduled to begin soon. No Treble reports that pricing for the four-string model will start at approximately $1,476, providing retailers with a new mid-range option for the fretless market segment.
