Sonuscore has unveiled The Sculpture, a novel instrument designed for sound creation, according to Synthtopia.
The instrument's distinctive character stems from a metal sculpture crafted by Klaus Gündchen, which served as the foundation for its sonic qualities. Recordings were made by physically interacting with the sculpture, including striking, bowing, and scraping its surfaces. Synthtopia reports that four distinct microphone placements—close, far, contact, and internal—were employed to comprehensively capture the sculpture’s sound.
The Sculpture offers users two operational modes: Single and Engine. The Single mode facilitates straightforward playback of the recorded sounds, while the Engine mode introduces advanced features like five voices and effects. The Engine mode also incorporates arpeggiators and a granular voice for expanded creative possibilities.
Available as a free download via the Kontakt Player, The Sculpture utilizes approximately 5 to 6 GB of sample content. Currently, the instrument is available at an introductory price of $79, a reduction from its standard price of $99. The sound library includes techniques such as mallets, rolls, and rubberball interactions.
