Vochlea has introduced a new software application, DubBox, intended to transform vocal percussion into drum loop patterns. According to Sound on Sound, the tool is geared toward music producers and those creating beats.
DubBox identifies distinct sounds within a vocalist’s performance, specifically recognizing elements like kick drums, snares, and hi-hats. The software then activates corresponding drum samples instantly and simultaneously captures the resulting audio. The reporting indicates that users have the ability to customize the application by training it to recognize as many as eight unique vocal sounds.
The software’s velocity sensitivity allows for dynamic control over the triggered sounds, while it also determines the tempo of the performance and applies quantization. DubBox is currently supported on both Windows 10 and later versions, as well as macOS 10.13 and higher.
Individuals who already own Vochlea's Dubler hardware can obtain a DubBox license at a reduced price. The application is available for $69, £59, or €69, while Dubler owners can purchase a license for $39, £34, or €39.
