Waves has officially introduced Atlas Reverb, a new flagship algorithmic reverb plug-in designed to emulate the behavior of iconic digital reverb units from the 1980s. According to reporting by Sound On Sound, the software aims to provide vocals, drums, guitars, and full mixes with depth that feels integrated into the recording rather than simply sounding like it has been applied over the top. The product resulted from thousands of hours of listening tests and fine-tuning during its creation process.
Sound On Sound reports that the plug-in features an all-new fully algorithmic engine containing more than 100 original programs tuned by ear. These presets range from realistic rooms, chambers, plates, and springs to experimental categories labeled Signature Halls and Dreamscapes. Waves states the interface includes a streamlined browser for quick auditioning and simplified controls, while complex parameters are handled automatically. The company positions the tool as a practical solution for both studio production and live performance scenarios due to its low latency and minimal CPU consumption.
Shai Mantzur, the Atlas Product Manager at Waves, told Sound On Sound that the design goal was to capture dynamic reflections that modulate with the music, ensuring each program feels like a distinct musical decision. The plug-in is compatible with Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 and above, supporting VST3, AU, and AAX formats. As of July 30, 2026, the software is available at an introductory price of $99.99, reduced from its standard cost of $149.
