Gamechanger Audio announces the PLUS Pedal II, a comprehensive redesign of its best-selling sustain instrument. Built around an entirely new sound engine, the PLUS Pedal II introduces intelligent automatic layering, advanced performance controls, and expanded connectivity delivering a level of musical expressiveness previously impossible in a single pedal.

The original PLUS Pedal established itself as a modern classic, used by musicians across genres and disciplines for its ability to create rich, organic, and endlessly evolving soundscapes. The PLUS Pedal II builds on that foundation with a rebuilt sound engine, new interface, and dramatically expanded capability across a wider range of instruments and performance contexts.

A New Sound Engine

At the core of the PLUS Pedal II is Spectral Sampling — an entirely new algorithm that combines real-time audio capture with spectral resynthesis to preserve the true timbre, dynamics, harmonics, and character of any input signal. The result is sustain that feels natural and immediately responsive, capturing the expressive nuances of a performance rather than simply freezing audio in place.

The new engine handles the full range of musical sources; electric guitar, vocals, flute, saxophone, violin, cello, acoustic instruments, and experimental sound sources with equal accuracy and musicality. A combo XLR/TS input with a built-in studio-grade microphone preamp ensures that any instrument or microphone can connect directly, without additional equipment.

Intelligent Automatic Layering

PLUS Pedal II introduces Auto Layer Catch — a new mode in which the engine continuously monitors incoming audio, identifies new note events, and adds them to the active sustain pool automatically. Players can rest a foot on the brass pedal and perform freely, without manually triggering each new layer. The result is an experience closer to playing a piano with a sustain pedal than operating an effects unit.

A dedicated LAYERS control knob allows precise management of the active layer count from a single sustained note to ten simultaneous harmonic layers, or Infinite Mode, in which the engine continuously folds older layers into new ones to allow endless stacking without interruption.

Advanced Performance Controls

PLUS Pedal II features a fully redesigned control interface with dedicated CATCH and HOLD switches that define exactly how new notes enter the sustain pool and how active layers behave while the pedal is engaged. Separate RISE and DECAY knobs shape the fade-in and fade-out characteristics of each individual layer, alongside TONE and RESONANCE controls that apply dynamic, evolving filtering and harmonic resonance to the sustained signal.

First-of-its-kind three-Position FX Loop

An brand new integrated SEND/RETURN effects loop with a three-position routing switch allows players to place external effects at three distinct points in the signal chain: before the PLUS Pedal II engines, inside the sustained layers only, or after the full combined output without replugging or rearranging a pedalboard. Each position produces a fundamentally different result from the same effects unit.

Optional Multi-Mode Footswitch

An optional external footswitch expands live and studio workflows with three operating modes: WET, which removes the dry signal from the main output for pure sustained layer output; LATCH, which holds the pedal in a continuously active state without requiring physical engagement of the brass pedal; and HIDE, which temporarily removes the dry signal whenever the brass pedal is pressed.

Key New Features

  • Layer Control — Select 1 to 10 discrete layers, or choose Infinite for endless stacking.
  • Auto Layer Catch — Rest your foot on the pedal and play freely. New notes are automatically caught and layered with natural, musical decay — no tap required.
  • Resonator — Active layers interact and evolve, generating beautiful fundamental harmonic movement in high or low register.
  • XLR Input + Built-in Mic Preamp — Studio-grade capture for any instrument or microphone source.
  • Smart Effects Loop — A three-position switch for instant routing of external effects Pre, Mix, or Post — before, inside, or after the PLUS Pedal 2’s engine.
  • Gradual Optical Control — Smooth, expressive sustain with a natural, responsive feel rather than binary on/off switching.
  • Visual Feedback — An elegant circular LED display shows active layers in real time.
  • Advanced Hold & Decay Release — Deep control over how layers enter, decay, and behave over time.
  • Optional Extra Footswitch — Three powerful modes: Wet, Latch, and Hide
