Father’s House Church in Gqeberha, South Africa, recently received a new sound system designed to overcome acoustic challenges inherent in its building. The church’s leadership sought assistance from Stage Audio Works to address issues related to the space's layout and low ceilings. According to Stage Audio Works, the project involved installing a distributed Plus Audio system.

Kieren Hempel, of Stage Audio Works, noted that the church’s focus on vibrant worship music and dynamic preaching necessitated a high standard of audio quality. The organization’s team observed that the church’s expansive seating area, low ceiling height, and concrete flooring created an environment where traditional front-of-house speaker systems could produce undesirable acoustic effects.

To mitigate these issues, Stage Audio Works implemented a decentralized audio approach. Rather than relying on a single, powerful speaker array, the team strategically positioned multiple speakers closer to the audience. This strategy aimed to provide consistent coverage while reducing the impact of reflections from the room's surfaces. The team found that pushing sound across a long distance in spaces with reflective floors and low ceilings often results in an overwhelming amount of room reflections that can obscure vocal clarity.
