musicradar reported that Suno has launched Studio 2.0, a significant update to its browser-based digital audio workstation. The new version merges generative AI capabilities with traditional music production workflows, introducing essential features like MIDI support, parameter automation, and latency compensation. These additions aim to appeal to musicians and producers by offering familiar tools alongside AI innovation. Users can now import, record, and edit MIDI on the timeline or in a newly added editor, while also utilizing audio-to-MIDI conversion tools within the platform.
Studio 2.0 features Studio Chat, an agentic AI system that responds to instructions to generate sounds, organize projects, or edit content via text prompts. This tool can also build customized audio effects plugins directly within the software. While similar concepts exist elsewhere, this implementation marks a distinct integration of such capability into a DAW environment. The update allows users to transform MIDI clips into audio featuring different instruments or styles while keeping the original pitch and rhythm intact. A horizontal channel strip now hosts stock effects including reverb, delay, compression, distortion, EQ, and noise gate. In a statement, Suno explained that these developments respond to user feedback emphasizing the need for familiar tools like synthesizers and effect processors. Studio 2.0 is available to Premium tier subscribers at thirty dollars monthly or twenty-four dollars monthly on an annual plan.
