A recent study indicates that a substantial percentage of music released recently incorporated automated processes, according to data from SubmitHub. The online music submission platform examined a large collection of tracks to determine the prevalence of these techniques.

SubmitHub’s SH Labs, a tool designed to identify automated elements in music, was used to evaluate over one million tracks. The investigation revealed that approximately 23.2% of the examined music was entirely produced by automated systems. In addition, 15.3% of the music contained elements created by automated systems that were subsequently altered or refined by human musicians.

Some artists have disputed the SH Labs’ findings, with 31% of those whose music was flagged claiming they did not utilize automated methods. SubmitHub representatives suggest that the software’s detection capabilities might be overly sensitive, or that some creators are hesitant to acknowledge the use of these technologies.

SubmitHub stated that listeners deserve access to sufficient information to make informed choices regarding the music they consume. The platform’s SH Labs tool is available for public use, offering a means to assess the potential involvement of automated processes in musical creations.
