J. Thibouville-Lamy (J.T.L) is delighted to announce the release of the Barnabetti Violin.

The J. Thibouville-Lamy Barnabetti 4/4 violin is a beautiful master-built instrument honouring its stunning predecessor originally built in 1910 in J.T.L’s workshops in Mirecourt – the birthplace of French violin making.

The J.T.L Barnabetti Violin uses the finest selection of European tonewoods and features a one-piece Maple back and ribs with a broad-grain Spruce top. Its naturally rich orange-brown colour is accentuated with an oil varnish, masterfully applied by skilled luthiers using centuries-old techniques to ensure the Barnabetti violin looks as wonderful as it sounds.

The founding of J. Thibouville-Lamy dates to 1861 in Mirecourt, France, where it was one of the biggest musical instrument manufacturers of its day, at its peak producing 150,000 instruments annually, employing 1000 craftsmen. Having been purchased by British musical instrument distributor and manufacturer, Barnes & Mullins, J.T.L have embarked on a journey of re-creation with the release of a range of bows in 2021 that honour and celebrate the legacy of some of the finest bowmakers throughout J. Thibouville-Lamy’s history and French lutherie. www.jtlamy.com

With original 1910 Barnabetti violins by their side throughout the process, every step of handcrafting the J. Thibouville-Lamy Barnabetti violin is exquisitely executed with the utmost precision and care. From the shaping of the scroll to the placement of the f-holes, J.T.L’s master luthiers have poured their heart and soul into expertly and respectfully replicating every magnificent detail of the original J. Thibouville-Lamy Barnabetti instrument. The finishing touch comes at the hands of J.T.L’s expert instrument technicians who inspect and setup every instrument in the UK.

With a retail price of £1315.00, the J. Thibouville-Lamy Barnabetti violin is available to order now exclusively through UK distributors Barnes & Mullins – www.bandm.co.uk
